Investor confidence in the euro zone for February improved to the highest level in nine months, easing concerns over the outlook for the region’s economy, data showed on Monday.
In a report, market research group, Sentix said its index of investor confidence improved to 12.4 this month, from a reading of 0.9 in January. Analysts had expected the index to improve to 3.0 in February.
On the index, a level above 0.0 indicates optimism, below indicates pessimism.
EUR/USD was trading at 1.1347 from around 1.1349 ahead of the release of the data, while EUR/GBP was at 0.7453 from 0.7450 earlier.
Meanwhile, European stock markets remained lower. The EURO STOXX 50 shed 1.65%, France’s CAC 40 fell 1.3%, Germany's DAX dropped 1.7%, while London’s FTSE 100declined 0.95%.
